"The Noah sisters rule Titan High with their beauty, brains, and magical powers.

Each year they play a secret game: Crushed. The girls pick their targets carefully and blow enchanted dust into the boy’s faces, charming them, but this year Kristen makes a grave mistake. She chooses the wrong boy and almost dies that same day. Coincidence? Maybe.

But something isn’t quite right about Zach Bevian. He doesn’t behave like a boy who’s been Crushed. He goes from hot to cold, from looking at her with contempt to asking her out on a date. She doesn’t know what to think. Does he hate her or is he truly falling for her? Is he trying to kill her, or is he trying to save her?"

"Crushed" is centered upon the Noah triplets -- Brittany, Kristen, and Cindy -- who are Titan High's resident trendsetters and social butterflies. Along with coveted popularity, the sisters are also blessed with the powers of witchcraft, handed down through the family's genes. The triplets use their powers to better the world around them...how? By blowing magical dust into the faces of innocent male bystanders, in order to gain their servitude. This action, affectionately referred to as "crushing", is an annual game that the Noah sisters play throughout the school year. Kristen, in attempts to shake her good-girl image, "crushes" a boy before the game is set to begin. This boy, Zach, seems to be her polar opposite..brooding, dark, mysterious, and mischievous. He also poses a major issue -- for some reason, "crushing" isn't so effective on him. Without giving away any more of the plot, I will just say that it thickens nicely, broadening to include romance, revenge, and even a few laughs.

I read this book in one sitting, because I was eager to find out the fate of the characters. I love that the characters act suitably/believably for their ages, despite the paranormal aspect of the book. They are concerned with using power to charm boys and to affect social standing...typical teens! K.C. Blake knows how to engage readers with fluent composition and just the right amount of suspense. I could easily see "Crushed" on the big screen, or featured as a short television series. It puts a modern, innovative twist on magic and the concept of empowerment. Typically, my predictions for the ending of YA novels are spot-on, but this book kept me guessing until the very end. "Crushed" is a must-read for all paranormal fanatics...especially those looking for a fast-paced, entertaining storyline.

"Crushed" is available on Amazon in E-book format for only $2.99 or in print for $12.99. It is also available on Smashwords for the same price. On Amazon a sample of the book is offered, so you can take a peek and see if you like it before you purchase a copy.

Author K.C. Blake is a California native who began writing for publisher Harlequin, but later found a renewed passion for YA fiction. She has written several other books, including: Vampires Rule, Werewolves Rule, and Pandora's Box. Currently, she is writing the second book in the Crushed series -- "Witch Hunt" -- which should be released in a few months time or less. You can read excerpts from all of these books on K.C. Blake's blog. While you are at, please follow the author on twitter and/or like her facebook page and show her some love!
