SendaFlyingCard.com is an ingenious and innovative company that offers flying greeting cards. They are a small, family-owned business operating out of Poughkeepsie, NY. Looking for a unique way to say "Happy Birthday" or "Get Well Soon"? You can order a customized plastic disc ( 9 1/4 inches, 100 g) that serves as both card and gift all in one! This is a perfect, thoughtful surprise for a friend, relative, or loved one. The plastic disc does not come with packaging, or any form of an envelope... it appears right in your mailbox as seen below. Perhaps the best part of these flying greeting cards is the fact that you can add your own personal touch. You aren't limited to the standard greeting card phrases (though they are available if you so please). You can add your own statements, pick the color of the disc, and even pick your own images!
Shipping is free and I can tell you from personal experience that this product ships fast! I couldn't believe it was already in my mailbox yesterday, when I had just contacted the company a few days prior. The flying card comes First Class, and the website indicates that it can take 2-9 business days to arrive (though it would probably be on the shorter side of this time frame). My flying card fit in my mailbox, though I'm not sure how. The mailman was crafty and somehow squeezed it in -- but don't worry if your box is small, as they will leave it at your door like any other package from the Postal Service that is too big to fit. P.O. boxes are also not excluded. You can add delivery confirmation to track your flying card for just $1.
Why purchase a Flying Card instead of the typical greeting card? SendaFlyingCard.com has an interesting tidbit:
According to the US Postal Service, approximately 7 billion cards are mailed each year. Are you still sending those same boring cards each holiday or birthday? Some cards from the local greeting card shops are upwards of $6 or $7 plus extra for shipping and those cards are thrown out after received. Get noticed and send a customized Flying Greeting today while promoting exercise and outdoor activities. And, your recipient will keep it forever.
I agree. I think a lot of cards get thrown away, or stored in boxes/bins, but this card would get additional use. It's a more heavy-duty keepsake, and can be used for play. It won't easily be forgotten. I think it would be great for promoting an event, or as an invitation to a party. You could use it for a new business as advertisement also. SendaFlyingCard.com is also environmentally conscious -- they use wind to power their web hosting, and FDA food and drink approved polypropylene plastic in their flying cards.
Need an "excuse" to send one of these awesome cards, or looking for the perfect message? On their website, SendAFlyingCard has many suggestions, some of which include: welcoming a new neighbor, congratulating a graduate, surprising a college student, congratulating on retirement, announcing a birth, asking someone out on a date (my personal favorite!), a military greeting, a thank you card, a get well soon card, or a "we miss you" card. There are a few clip art-esque images to choose from if you do not have a personalized image to add.
Right now, these Flying Cards are only $9.99, complete with message and picture! That's quite the deal. Click here to order one. You can also visit SendaFlyingCard.com on facebook, twitter, YouTube, or their blog.
Here are some pictures of the flying card that I received. It came to my mailbox without a scratch (if that was a concern, since there is no packaging), and it was so cute! They customized my card with The Second Thought logo. I actually was unaware that they could print non-clip art images until I saw this, so I was impressed! The image is pretty high quality, and the card is very heavy duty. The postage on the underneath of the card (as shown below) was very easily removed. As you can tell, it is a very nice keepsake for my blog. If my dog promises to keep his biting to a minimum, we will probably be using this as a Frisbee come summer!
Disclaimer! I received a Flying Card in exchange for my honest review. This in no way has influenced my opinions.
