Review and Giveaway! - UGLee Pens

The UGLee Pen is a spectacular and innovative new writing utensil. What makes it special compared to your average pen? It is "the world's most comfortable ergonomic pen" -- I couldn't say it better myself. UGLee Pens are specifically designed for comfort, and they weren't designed by just anyone. Dr. Lee, the inventor of this product, spent much time in medical school writing pages upon pages of notes (something I can expect in the next two years..I better keep my UGLee Pens stashed away, or prepare to buy new ones when these run out). He realized that there wasn't an "ideal" pen on the market to help soothe a cramping hand.. I can definitely relate. He spent eight years experimenting with different shapes, sizes, and textures of materials in order to create the perfect pen. He even went so far as to research how the hand looks via x-ray when it is gripping a pen! Pretty neat, if you're into that kind of stuff, like I am. Dr. Lee has a BS in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University and an MD from Stanford University School of Medicine; if he can't produce the most ergonomic pen, I don't think anyone can. Reading this background story made me want to try the UGLee Pen even more! He clearly took the time to produce a pen that can withstand constant writing. I like that the UGLee Pen did not come from a large pen/pencil corporation.

The UGLee Pen is great for high-school, college, or graduate students that spend ample amounts of time writing notes. Beyond that, it is nice for people who work in an office setting, or even for people who only write checks, letters, etc. The UGLee Pen can help soothe the discomfort that might exist from conditions such as arthritis, tendonitis, or carpal tunnel syndrome. The company suggests that the pens are also great for children who are having a hard time gripping their pen or pencil properly, or for anyone who has trouble learning to write. All-in-all, this is a product for any age! Anyone can benefit from the use of the UGLee Pen.

The UGLee Pen weighs only 11 grams -- this keeps it light and easy to handle. It has ink that is smoother than a gel pen, fountain ink, or any typical roller ball. In my opinion, the best part or comfort feature of the pen is the grip. The grip takes up just over half of the pen, and feels gel-like to the touch. The shape and the detailed texture of the grip are both specially designed to prevent cramping and enhance a relaxed writing position. The pen fits nicely into the grooves created by your muscles. UGLee Pens got their name because they focus on comfort rather than the overall physical "appeal". The UGLee Pen is made of high quality nylon, and the ink is a mixture between ball-point ink and gel ink.

I loved my UGLee Pen set. They are not the prettiest pens I have ever owned, but that is beside the point. I started using one of the pens immediately after I received my package. I try to get some MCAT studying in every night, so I am constantly doodling down questions, notes, answer, etc etc. I wish I had these in college! My hands used to cramp so bad, and since I have always gripped my pen incorrectly (I don't hold anything right, may have something to do my bone structure), I also get something like a black and blue bruise on my middle finger from pressing too hard. This pen does not correct the way I hold it, but it makes me feel as though I am not gripping the pen tightly. It is very comfortable, and I don't mind writing MCAT notes for extended periods of time. The ink does not smear and does go on smoothly. It seems like these are high-quality pens that will last for a long time. I am definitely going to purchase refill ink sometime in the future so that I can bring these with me to Med. school.

The UGLee Pen comes in red, pink, white, yellow, green, blue, and gray. If you would like to place an order, you can do so on their website, here. The UGLee Pens come in a package of three for only $19.99 and $3.95 shipping. When you consider how highly priced some "showy" pens are, and then you think of the comfort you are getting with these, the price really is pretty affordable. Also, you don't have to buy new pens when yours run out! You can order ink refills, in black, blue, or red -- a package of 10 is just $15 plus $2.95 for shipping. You can find UGLee Pen on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, or Word Press. Connect with them and show them some love!
