Wantable Makeup Box Review

What is Wantable?

Wantable is a company based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, whose CEO has over fifteen years of experience in online marketing and retail. It is an innovative and fun way to try the latest beauty products and accessories on the market. Wantable will create a unique customer profile for you by asking you to answer a series of fashion-related and personality questions; they then take these answers and compile them in order to figure out which of the newest products would be the best fit for you.

Every month, the Wantable team picks out trending fashion products from vendors, boutiques, and specialty stores. These are full sized items, though you may receive a few additional samples. Using each customer's profile, they sort the items into boxes which can be shipped to your doorstep. Every box is unique to fit the personality and the beauty needs of its buyer. By asking what items you hate and love, you can assure that you won't be receiving "mystery" items that could really be hit or miss. Wantable assures that the items in your box are catered to you, which gives it a personal touch that I think many customers will really enjoy.

A monthly subscription to Wantable costs just $36, which is a great deal when you combine the individual prices of the products that you are receiving. If you don't want to commit, you can always purchase a single box to try for $40. Also, if you are unhappy with your purchase, you can always return your Wantable box for a full refund, no questions asked! In my opinion, you can't really go wrong if you are a makeup lover. If you sign up for the Wantable subscription, you will receive a box each month automatically, but you always have the option of skipping a box or cancelling at any time.

There are three boxes that you can choose from, ultimately: the makeup box (featured in this review), the accessories box, or the intimates box. The accessory box will contain three to four boutique accessories. In previous boxes, for example, customers received bold, statement jewelry, delicate scarves, watches, sunglasses, etc. The intimates box includes four to five handpicked essentials, from brands such as: Betsey Johnson, Kix'ies, Pact, Steve Madden, Muk Luks, etc. Readers have received items such as slips, panties, hosiery, bralettes, slipper socks, hoodies, etc. Right now, Wantable also is featuring a limited edition Holiday Box -- there are three that you can choose from: Majestic Masquerade, Romantic Rendezvous, or Starlight Soiree. In these bags, you will find some shade or style of the following items:

 Bella Beauty Small
Metallic Cosmetic Bag
Bella Beauty Rollerball Eyeshadow Set
29 Cosmetics Dew Lip Gloss
Color Club Nail Polish
Spa Sister Silk Sleep Mask
Wantable Exclusive Earrings

I received a Wantable makeup box last month to review, so that I could share my opinions with you. I love subscription boxes, because I feel like it gives me a chance to try products I might not have picked for myself. Often, subscription boxes will introduce me to new brands I hadn't heard of, or new shades that I wouldn't have thought to buy (but ended up looking great). The Wantable Makeup Box did just that. It first took me through an extensive style profile, asking me to answer questions and rate different products/styles/colors on how much I loved them. I really enjoy when companies that offer subscription boxes take the time to personalize their items. Not everyone is the same, and makeup is one of things that is REALLY hard to generalize on. I appreciate that Wantable doesn't just guess and send any kind of makeup -- I have seen other boxes that do this, and I am not sure that it works all that well. We all have different tastes, skin tones, and even just preferences. Some of us like liquid eyeliner...some of us only like pencil liner.

Did the style profile really work? I think that in most ways, it did. I would love to see what it would pick for me in the future, if I ever get the funds to afford buying boxes monthly. I had never heard of any of the brands in my Wantable box, which is not a bad thing. I like being introduced to new brands which could become favorites. On the packing slip, Wantable has a tiny profile of your answers and what they have included in the box, along with an extensive description about the company and the item. You are more likely to receive items that you claim to "Love" during the style quiz, less likely to receive those that you just like, and you will never receive items that you dislike. I answered "Love" to eyeliner, blush, highlighter, nail polish, bronzer, and eye shadow. I answered "Like" to brows, lash products, tools, and complexion products. Here is what I received in my box:

  • Brazen Cosmetics - Loose Blush - Frenzy - Retail $19.00
  • JAPONESQUE - Travel Smudger Brush - Retail $14.50
  • Cailyn Cosmetics - Liquid Eyeliner - Brown - Retail $15.00
  • Lise Watier - Haute Couleur High Coverage Lip Lacquer - Rouge Catwalk - $22.00
  • Skiin - Sample Item - Skiin Instant Skin Tightener and Line Filler
I was supposed to receive a Rainbow Honey Nail Lacquer in color Ephemeral, but it was missing from my box. Receiving something for free, you wouldn't catch me complaining. However, for the purpose of a review, I was a little surprised that this slipped by. I know that mistakes happen, but I would definitely be upset if I paid for the box and an item was missing.  That being said, the rest of the box was great. I will detail my experiences with the items below. I did not try out the sample of Skiin, because, thankfully, I haven't hit the age bracket where skin tightening and line filling is necessary. I gave the sample to my mom and she was happy, so I'll let you know how she likes it.

Brazen Cosmetics - Loose Blush - Frenzy

The shade Frenzy is a "trendy bright coral" which is suitable for virtually all skin tones. This Brazen Cosmetics blush is loose, and a little goes a long way! Be careful when you are opening it and applying it, as I kept getting too much on my brush. My tip is to just barely dab into the container with your blush brush and to make sure that you tap the edge of the container to rid of excess. This blush is not matte -- there is a distinct gold shimmer, though it goes on sheer. The multidimensional aspect of the blush really adds contour and life to otherwise bland cheeks. I have a light/medium skin-tone that is on the lighter side during the winter months, when I am not getting much sun. Frenzy was the perfect shade. It doesn't go on too strong (for those that don't like a really distinct blush line), but it isn't so subtle that nobody can tell you are wearing it. I hate spending money on blush that isn't even noticeable. This appears as a pretty pink/orange with a slight shimmer when you go into different lighting. It isn't overly shimmery, so I feel that it is also applicable for most age groups. I think that it would look nice on any skin color, especially during the Winter -- it is nice to have some color when you aren't tan any longer. The Brazen Cosmetics blush went on smoothly and was easy to blend. This was actually one of my favorites in the box, and I think they hit my "style profile" exactly. I would definitely pick this kind of color for my blush.

JAPONESQUE - Travel Smudger Brush

I put on my style profile that I "like" but don't "love" tools, and that is really because I don't use that many tools. I have a few cheap brushes that I use for blush, powder, and a few for my eyes, but I was never one of those people that needed a professional brush for everything. I am pretty confident in my ability to blend and apply different types of makeup without spending a ton on expensive tools. I did like the JAPONESQUE Smudger brush, so I guess that I can add it to my small collection. It is clearly a professional quality brush, which is made for smudging eyeshadow, softening distinctions, and blending cream and shadow. It can be used to add color to your creases, to blend, or to smudge your eye-liner for a smokey look. The box recommends that you use the flat side of the brush for a "soft line of color" and that you "gently rub color to create a smudged, smoky effect". You can also "swirl the brush tip in short circular motions to blend". In the pictures below, you can see that I used the JAPONESQUE brush to apply my Urban Decay eyeshadow. It definitely did its job, so I recommend this brush if you have difficulty blending with a standard brush.

Cailyn Cosmetics - Liquid Eyeliner - Brown

This liquid eyeliner by Cailyn Cosmetics is a distinct, chocolate color that stands out on both the lower lid and top lid over eyeshadow. It comes in a small pot, with a brush on the end that is firm, to make drawing lines easy. Putting this eyeliner on is like drawing with a sharpie -- I have taken some pictures below of my mom applying it. She typically has trouble getting a straight line with some liquid eyeliners that have "floppy" brushes. As you can see, she was able to apply it well. It did last for the better part of the day, but even though it claims to be smudge resistant, that didn't seem to be entirely true. We also both recommend that you apply the liner as quickly as possible -- if you try to go over it to connect your line, it will end up removing the original line and "gunking up" on your eye. The color and the application brush are nice, but the eyeliner does have a tendency to dry very quickly as you are applying it. My mom had to dip into the container several times just to finish one eye.

Lise Watier - Haute Couleur High Coverage Lip Lacquer - Rouge Catwalk

This was my other favorite product in the box. This lip lacquer is definitely high coverage as it claims -- it stays on for many hours, without drying up or cracking. I hate when lipstick starts to "crumble" on your lips and leave little patches of discoloration. It may just be me, but I feel like that happens a lot with different brands, and it is frustrating. This Lise Watier lip lacquer stayed on great, and didn't have a sticky, gross, heavy feeling. It feels smooth and hydrated, and it looks just as shiny as it feels! The red color may not be for everyone, but it is definitely a show stopper. I love the intensity, and I think that it is best paired with a very neutral eyeshadow and cheeks, or even just with some nice mascara. I think that it works as a day time color when the rest of your face is simplistic, but could easily be turned into a sexy nighttime look. It goes on easily with a curved applicator, and I only had to reapply after dinner. In case you do need to reapply, the lip lacquer has a handy mirror on the side, as well as an LED light that lights up when you open it. I love it!

All-in-all, the Wantable Makeup Box was more hit than miss. It gave me a great opportunity to experience new products, and to find a new blush and lip lacquer that will find their way into my weekly beauty routine. I think the cost is pretty standard, and that makeup-lovers will find the unknown brands to be surprisingly high-quality and wonderful.

Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula Advanced: Review

Omni Herbals is a company based out of Los Angeles, California, which manufactures nutritional supplements with high quality ingredients; their supplements are available for purchase throughout the country as well as internationally. Though not evaluated by the FDA, their ingredients are set to those, as well as GMP standards. Omni Herbals purchases only the purest raw materials, and has a state-of-the-art quality control laboratory where finished products are tested.

Omni Herbals also features the following products which will not be detailed in this review:

  • Maximum African Mango - African Mango has been used as a diet and energy aid in Cameroon, Africa, for centuries and is now available for you in an easy to take form.
  • Raspberry Ketone Blast - Raspberry Ketones is the newest weight loss aid that has been blasted across television and major health news sites worldwide. Find out why!
  •  Virility3000 - Virility 3000TM is a proprietary blend of natural ingredients known to improve and maximize sexual function, increase libido & boost stamina.

I was fortunate enough to be given one 30-day supply of Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula (Advanced) for the purpose of this review. I am always eager to try new dietary supplements, especially around the holidays when I not on the top of my game diet-wise! Being under the stress of studying constantly and not having enough time to exercise adequately, my weight is not where I would like it to be, and it is a constant frustration for me. I had not heard of Omni Herbals, so I applied to review this product right away.

Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula has many benefits, besides amplifying diet and exercise; it can help lower blood pressure, improve digestion, and improve overall feeling of wellness. The ingredients may help you to shed excess body weight, increase your energy levels, block carbohydrate intake, and suppress appetite. You may have heard of some of the main ingredients on popular television shows, or in magazines.

Super Citrimax is a more active form of the popular Garcinia Cambogia fruit, which has been shown to reduce the feeling of hunger and to help with fat burning and weight loss. This more active form, classified as GRAS (generally recognized as safe) may be up to three times as effective as Garcinia Cambogia alone, and will help with the conversion of carbs into more efficient energy.

The Uva Ursi Berry contains glycoside arbutin, which is a diuretic, helping to relieve excess water. Juniper Berry is also a diuretic and antioxidant, and Korean Ginseng has been used to generally boost one's immune system. There are many more ingredients (listed below), each with a positive effect to add to this powerful dietary supplement.

All you have to do is take one tablet 15-30 minutes before each meal, approximately three times a day. Unlike many dietary supplements on the market, Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula is packed with natural ingredients and no stimulants, which means that anyone who is negatively affected by the effects of caffeine would probably respond favorably to this supplement. You won't have to worry about getting the nervous, heart-pounding feeling, or the jittery, shaky feeling that is commonly associated with stimulants. This supplement seems to be safer for people with serious health concerns. You should always contact your doctor before taking a new supplement if you are currently on any medications, but there are currently no known risks associated with Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula.

Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula contains the following ingredients: Vitamin C (30 mg), Thiamin (1.5 mg), Riboflavin (1.7 mg), Niacin (10 mg), Vitamin B-6 (5 mg), Vitamin B-12 (24 mcg), Pantothenic Acid (5 mg), Iodine (50 mcg), Zinc (5 mg), Selenium (40 mcg), Copper (.5 mg), Chromium (50 mcg), Potassium (20 mg). It contains the following proprietary blend: Super Citrimax, Eleuthero (root) Extract, Gotu Kola (leaf), Oat Fiber, Ginseng, Korean (root) (panax ginseng), Psyllium Husks, Hoodia Gordonii (stem), Gum Guar, Lecithin, Calcium Pyruvate, Uva Ursi (berry), Juniper (berry), and Green Papaya - 880 mg. There are also the following ingredients, which do not contain amounts on the label: cellulose, stearic acid, silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, and ethylcellulose.

You can purchase Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula on the Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula website. One bottle (90 pills) retails for $74.95, three bottles for just $149.95, and six bottles for $224.95. The best part? You can try it for 60 days and if you aren't satisfied, there is a money back guarantee! You also get free shipping.

I took Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula for a little over a month; sometimes it was hard to commit to remember taking the pill three times a day, or I wouldn't have regular meals due to class. I really loved the fact that Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula contains natural ingredients. It is one of the first supplements I have seen with such an assortment of ingredients. Before taking these pills, I had heard many good things about several of them, including the Hoodia Gordonii and Garcinia Cambogia fruit. It was nice to find a supplement that combined all of these ingredients, while also not containing stimulants. I do take energy supplements occasionally, or energy drinks while studying -- however, I would not want to take them every day. When I need the energy I love the boost, but I don't really like the flush and the toll that it is probably taking on my heart.

It is hard to say if Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula had an immediate effect, as I have been exercising only very moderately and have not seen a significant change in my weight. However, I did seem to think that it helped with not retaining fluid -- which is great if you are prone to bloating. I may have had a reduced appetite, or it may have been all in my head. I would love to wait a few weeks and then start to purchase Pharmacist Weight Loss Formula to see if I notice a more significant change. I think that this supplement is definitely worth a try for anyone looking to boost their overall health, whether you need to lose weight specifically, or not. I only have good things to say about it...I am almost positive that it helped boost my general immunity, if not only because I wasn't taking my daily Vitamins and desperately needed them. I had been feeling under the weather for several weeks, due to some mixture of sinuses, allergies, and whatnot, and this helped to alleviate those symptoms. I would definitely recommend this supplement, especially since they offer a money back guarantee. You have nothing to lose, and supplements work different for every person - so why not see if they work for you?

Wet & Forget Indoor Mold+Mildew Disinfectant Cleaner: Review

Wet & Forget Logo

Wet & Forget was established in New Zealand over 35 years ago, and expanded into North America in 2005. Initially, they sold mold, moss, mildew and algae remover to companies, but in 2008, they began to distribute products to retail stores for consumer purchase. Wet & Forget manufactures three great products: Wet & Forget Indoor Mold+Mildew Disinfectant Cleaner (created most recently, in 2012), Wet & Forget Outdoor Moss, Mold, Mildew & Algae Stain Removal, and Wet & Forget Shower.

Wet & Forget can be purchased from a variety of retail stores throughout the United States, including: BJ's Wholesale Club, Ace Hardware, True Value, Aubuchon Hardware, Plummer's Hardware, etc. Check the store locator here to find a hardware store near you that carries their products! If you can't find a store, you can always purchase Wet & Forget products through their website, here. One 1/2 gallon of Wet & Forget Indoor Mold+Mildew Disinfectant Cleaner retails for just $19.99, and 1 gallon is $24.99.

I was lucky enough to receive one half gallon of Wet & Forget Indoor Mold+Mildew Disinfectant Cleaner for the purposes of this review. I jumped at the chance to review this product, because we live in an older apartment that is prone to mold and mildew in the right places. It is nice to have this kind of cleaner on hand when a problem arises.

Wet & Forget Indoor Mold+Mildew Disinfectant Cleaner is an easy solution to not only removing the mold and mildew around your house, but also inhibiting its return. Wet & Forget Indoor can be used in a variety of places, such as: kitchens, bathrooms, showers, camps, boats, countertops, garbage cans, walls, and many different surfaces; damp areas are most prone to collecting mold and mildew. It is extremely versatile! Wet & Forget Indoor makes cleaning mold and mildew simple. It has a nifty design, with a screw-off top and a screw-on nozzle. You won't have to worry about getting on your hands and knees to scrub vigorously, as all you have to do is spray the affected area. Then, you wait ten minutes before wiping the surface dry with a sponge, towel, etc. You can also let it air dry if you want to save even more time. Wet & Forget suggests that you repeat your treatment in a damp area every seven days, or as needed to prevent re-growth. Another great feature is the ability of the spray nozzle to reach upwards of 10 feet, as well as to turn in many positions, and even upside down! This makes it so easy to reach hard-to-get corners, especially when you are short. I know that for some people, bending down can be a huge stress on knees or the back, so this is also a great feature for reaching longer distances.

One aspect of Wet & Forget Indoor that I really admire is the fact that it does not contain bleach, or other really harsh chemicals. Lately, my throat has been extremely sensitive, and just normal household cleaners with strong odors are enough to irritate it and put me into a coughing spell for an hour. I like that I was able to use Wet & Forget Indoor without coughing profusely or having to get a mask -- there were no fumes, and the smell was very mild. At the same time, there is no compromise for quality. Wet & Forget Indoor removes the odor of mold and mildew effectively while also removing all trace of it. Even though it has the word "indoor" in its name, Wet & Forget Indoor can be used equally on outdoor surfaces, such as outdoor furniture.

Wet & Forget Indoor has the following "ingredients": Octyl decyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, Dioctyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, Aklyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride.

Lately, I have noticed that our shower has been collecting mildew -- especially around the shower curtain liner and the edges of the tub. Before I had Wet & Forget, I was using a simple shower cleaner, and it wasn't alleviating the problem. I know that we will have to replace the shower liner (which is fine, because it is super inexpensive) because of the extent of mildew build-up. However, I would like to prevent having to buy new ones in the near future. I also don't like the idea of taking a bath when my bathwater is in contact with mildew. Although we can't save the liner, it was great to have Wet & Forget to keep the rest of the shower safe. I really felt as though Wet & Forget helped effectively remove the mildew and prevent the start of new patches. It also left our shower immaculate and smelling fresh and new.

I find myself also using Wet & Forget in other areas of the bathroom, where the water might collect from a shower or under the sink. I have also used Wet & Forget on kitchen counters and in low, dark cupboards -- any space that is damp and in need of cleaning and deodorizing. I was very impressed with how efficiently it cleaned every variety of surface in our apartment. I loved the simple design and the ease of use. I have had cleaners before (especially concerning the shower) that required me to scrub and scrub for an hour with a textured sponge in order to get rid of a stain or patch of mildew. This made cleaning a lot easier on my back and a lot less time consuming. I would definitely recommend Wet & Forget to anyone who is having issues with mold or mildew, or wants to have a preventative cleaner on hand.

I was lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to review three different Mrs. Freshley's products - the Dreamies, the Glazed Donut Sticks, and the Honey Buns. I contacted Mrs. Freshley's originally because I have heard great things about their snack cakes, but I never had a chance to try them. My boyfriend is a huge fan of these kind of desserts, so I knew he would be very excited to help me test them out. Mrs. Freshley's has been extremely patient with me in terms of getting this review out to you guys -- things have been difficult with school and balancing everything, and unfortunately I can't succeed at my work while also conducting all the reviews I would love to conduct. I am passionate about this blog so I am not quitting by any just means that my operations have slowed.

Dreamies are creme-filled snack cakes with an airy and light outer coating. My boyfriend had been in Twinkie withdrawal, so these were a welcomed sight. He said that they taste better than Twinkies. We had an extra box that we did not use in our recipe (see below), so I shared with my friends as well, who also loved the taste of the Dreamies. They have a great, fresh flavor and you don't have to feel too bad about snacking on one -- the calories are not that high.

Dreamies have 140 calories per snack cake, 3.5g of fat, 5mg of cholesterol, 190mg of sodium, 25g of carbohydrates, and 2g of protein. They also have 4% of your daily value of iron. They contain the following ingredients: Enriched bleached and unbleached flour, sugar, whey (milk), corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, soybean oil, egg whites, eggs, palm oil. 2% or less of the following: Nonfat milk, dextrose, egg yolks, modified corn starch, corn starch, mono and diglycerides, salt, whey, protein concentrate, leavening, sodium stearoyl lactylate, soy flour, datem, polysorbate 80, soy lecithin, natural and artificial flavors, polysorbate 60, colored with extractives of turmeric and annatto seed, citric acid, cellulose gum, caramel color, xanthan gum, potassium sorbate and sorbic acid.

Honey Buns are glazed snacks that come individually wrapped in a package of six. These were my favorite of the three snacks that Mrs. Freshley's sent -- even more-so when I made them into honey bun bread pudding (see below)! They have that great, homemade bakery taste...much less artificial than you would expect from a packaged bake good. They are perfectly glazed and have a great flavor.

Mrs. Freshley's Honey Buns have only 210 calories per snack cake, 11g of fat, 0mg of cholesterol, 160mg of sodium, 25g of carbohydrates, and 3g of protein. They have 8% of your daily value of iron and 6% of your daily value of calcium. They contain the following ingredients: Enriched flour, sugar, water, vegetable oil, corn syrup, yeast. 2% or less of the following ingredients: Cinnamon, dextrose, corn starch, salt, distilled monoglycerides, soy flour, monocalcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, leavening, agar, soy lecithin, datem, natural and artificial flavor, titanium dioxide, monoglycerides, enzymes, wheat starch, colored with turmeric and annatto, ascorbic acid, dry honey, azodicarbonamide, calcium stearate, hydroxylated soy lecithin, preserved with calcium calcium propionate, sodium propionate, potassium sorbate and natamycin.

Mrs. Freshley's Donut Sticks are glazed, and also come individually wrapped with six to a package. I had never had anything like these before -- they do taste like donuts, but with an extra kick. They are scrumptious, and everyone, again, agreed with me! We didn't find anything bad to say about Mrs. Freshley's products.. just that we didn't have more of them to eat. :)

The Donut Sticks have 220 calories per snack cake, 12g of fat, 10mg of cholesterol, 180mg of sodium, 26g of carbohydrates, and 1g of protein. They have 15% of your daily value of calcium, and 4% your daily value of iron. They contain the following ingredients: Sugar, enriched flour, palm oil, water, nonfat milk. 2% or less of the following: soybean oil, egg yolks, leavening, calcium carbonate, salt, mono and diglycerides, calcium sulfate, dextrose, wheat starch, agar, guar gum, soy lecithin, distilled monoglycerides, spice, natural and artificial flavors, locust bean gum, titanium dioxide, sodium hexametaphosphate, corn dextrin, tapioca dextrin, modified wheat starch, karaya gum, enzymes, sodium propionate and potassium sorbate.

Mrs. Freshley's has channeled their inner creativity by coming up with a variety of wonderful, innovative recipes that you can create with their products. These desserts are simple to make, and just further enhance the great taste of Mrs. Freshley's products. My boyfriend and I chose to create two of the new recipes to share here: the Honey Bun Bread Pudding and the Strawberry Short Dreamies. Below I will share the ingredients and instructions with you, as well as our results. Around a month ago, we had company come for my White Coat Ceremony for school, and we knew that Mrs. Freshley's recipes would be a great hit for our families to share with us. They were excited to try our creations, and only had good things to report.

Honey Bun Bread Pudding

Ingredients (as per Mrs. Freshley's website)
  • 4 Mrs. Freshley's Honey Buns
  • 1/2 Cup Skim Milk
  • 2 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/8 Tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/8 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 30 Sprays Butter Spray

Directions (as per Mrs. Freshley's website)
  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Line a large muffin tin with cupcake liners. or grease the tins.
  2. Combine milk, egg, brown sugar, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Mix well.
  3. Cut each Honey Buns into 12th's and add to milk mixtures.
  4. At this point you would add your raisins, pecans, cranberries and any other filler you choose. Let bread with or without fillers to sit for 15 minutes to soak up the milk mixture.
  5. Spoon bread mixture equally into prepared muffin cups. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the bread puddings are puffed up and golden brown.
  6. Remove pan from oven and spray each bread pudding with 5 sprays of butter. Allow to cool completely before serving.

We improvised a little with this recipe. We made two "batches" so that both of our families could share. We did not have any muffin tins on hand, so we decided to use a baking pan, which seemed to work relatively well. We made sure to coat it in cooking spray so as not to have any honey buns sticking to the bottom of the pan. We added the milk, egg, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon, but decided not to add raisins, pecans, or cranberries as fillers because we couldn't agree on which one to use! By cooking the Honey Bread Bun Pudding in the cooking pan, we noticed that the milky mixture was not soaked up as fast as it could have been. The honey buns did not plump up as much as anticipated. Although our end result wasn't exactly like the picture on the recipe card that Mrs. Freshley's sent us, the taste was still on par. This was such a simple and quick recipe, and it tasted like we had spent a lot more time with it. Our families really enjoyed it, despite the texture not being perfect. It was very flavorful and it tasted like we had made the dessert from scratch. This is definitely a great recipe to try if you are not a master baker -- something I know well. You can get away with making something that people will love without having to have much skill in the way of cooking or baking!

Strawberry Short Dreamies

Ingredients (as per Mrs. Freshley's website)
  • 1 ½ pounds fresh strawberries
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 8-ounce tub frozen whipped topping
  • 6 Mrs. Freshley's Dreamies

Directions (as per Mrs. Freshley's website)
  1. Rinse strawberries.
  2. Remove stems from all strawberries and slice in half lengthwise.
  3. Mix sugar and strawberries in a bowl, then set in fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes to allow strawberry juices to develop.
  4. Arrange Mrs. Freshley's Dreamies into a serving bowl and pour strawberry mixture on top.
  5. Top with frozen whipped topping, serve and enjoy!

Our families enjoyed the taste of the Strawberry Short Dreamies even more than the Bread Pudding. In the picture, you won't see a pound of strawberries, 6 Dreamies, or a whole tub of whipped topping, because we plated these out individually for each of our family members. My suggestion with this recipe would be to make sure that you are going to a store that sells FRESH strawberries, or cares about their produce. The local stores that sell produce at our new apartment are not the greatest; these strawberries, fortunately, did not have mold but they were dry and not as plumped up as they could have been. Therefore, there wasn't a ton of excess juice build up when we let them sit with the sugar in the fridge. I felt like if they were better quality, there would have been more juice. If you have the same problem, I would recommend using some frozen strawberries in addition to "fresh" ones, as well as strawberry syrup -- especially if you are going to plate these desserts out at a party and you want them to look artistically perfect. Again, our creation wasn't exactly like the picture, but it tasted amazing. It was a whole new way to think about strawberry shortcake -- I never would have thought of using something like Dreamies, but it makes sense.. the texture and flavor are wonderful. I would definitely recommend making this recipe at home; it only took us a few minutes to prepare, and did not have to sit long in the fridge. These would be great on a hot day.
