iGOZEN is a company based out of Sierra Madre, CA, that manufactures organic cleaning products. Their founders adhere to a Zen lifestyle, and their mission is to help bring happiness to people's lives. iGOZEN looks for harmony with the environment, as well as in each person's body. "IGOZEN is a movement, and a philosophy of living as much as it is a product that is born from the sea and delivered to you with a footprint on the earth that is not only practical but also beneficial."

iGOZEN manufactures three wonderful products which will not be featured in this review, and they are:
  • Everyday Cleaner - A nontoxic and odorless cleaner which eliminates bacteria and stains from metal, plastic, granite, wood, stone, quartz, etc. This cleaner is 100% natural, safe for your children and your pets, and can be used on anything from your bathtub and kitchen counters to the inside of your car!
  • Meat/Fish Wash - This cleanser is also 100% natural and eliminates 99.9% of E. coli, Salmonella, and other bacteria from meat. Toxins and pesticides can also be removed, and this cleanser can be used on any type of meat, from chicken, to fish, to beef without risk of a residual taste.
  •  Food Wash - This cleanser is actually a combination of the Meat/Fish Wash and Fruit/Vegetable Wash, in one shaking blender. This 100% natural cleanser works on almost any type of food, to remove bacteria,s pesticides, and toxins.

I was lucky enough to receive the iGOZEN Fruit/Vegetable Wash Powder and 16 oz. spray bottle for the purpose of this review. I was interested in reviewing iGOZEN's Fruit/Vegetable wash because I'm trying to take steps towards a more "green" lifestyle, and I had never heard of using anything other than water to wash produce. I have to admit that sometimes, buying fruit and veggies that look infused with chemicals, I wonder if water is REALLY doing the job to thoroughly clean my food. I didn't really want to find out if I had been consuming fruits and veggies that could have been much cleaner, but I was interested to see how it worked.

So what is iGOZEN, and how does it clean Fruits and Vegetables?

iGOZEN consists of a "microfine powder" that contains calcium (which is actually healthy) particles which are organically harvested from seashells. iGOZEN is created using a patented, five-step process that includes a high-pressure washing system, freezing, heating/baking, and pulverization. This cleaning powder contains no unnatural perfume, dyes, or chemicals. It is laboratory tested, and is proven to eliminate 99.9% of Salmonella, E.coli, and other bacteria, pesticides, and toxins. It is safe for anyone with allergies, for small children, and even for pets, as it is non-toxic and not harmful if ingested. The iGOZEN formula is extremely alkaline, so it neutralizes acidic substances that are deposited on your fruits and vegetables. The microfine particles are able to get deep inside of your fruits and vegetables, allowing iGOZEN to be a much more effective cleaner than water. iGOZEN is environmentally friendly and economical. It has no expiration date.

iGOZEN is extremely easy to use. All you have to do is open one of the powder packets, pour it into your 16 oz. spray bottle, and add water. To wash your fruits and vegetables, simply put them in a bowl, spray them down with iGOZEN, and shake them around in the bowl to make sure that they are covered completely. Allow a little time for the cleaning process to work, and run the bowl under water to wash out the excess residue that will collect at the bottom of the bowl.

This company is very committed to the environment. Packaging is minimal, and in the introductory kit, the little box that the iGOZEN powder comes in is actually a magnet, so you can reuse it to put important things on the front of your fridge. You can reuse your iGOZEN spray bottles after you have purchased the first one, simply buying more packets of powder for the future. Shipping the powder and bottle WITHOUT water in the bottle reduces cost...you are getting an organic product without having to pay an organic price!

The iGOZEN Fruit/Vegetable Wash is available on the iGOZEN website, here, for just $19.95 -- this is an Introductory kit which includes six packets of iGOZEN microfine Fruit/Vegetable Wash Powder and one 16 oz. spray bottle. You can also sign up for the Fruit/Vegetable Wash Savings Club for $14.95, which includes an every one-six month delivery for 10% off the total price. You also receive access to a Green-up consultant and a monthly newsletter. If you need to purchase refill packages of Fruit/Vegetable Wash Powder for your spray bottle, you can get ten packets for just $14.95.

I was skeptical of the efficacy of iGOZEN's Fruit/Vegetable Wash at first, but after physically seeing the results, I am incredibly happy that I have this cleaner. I didn't realize that just running your fruits and vegetables under the faucet quickly is really not enough. I thought that would be sufficient to remove anything harmful, but when I think about it, whenever I want something to be REALLY clean, I use soap. Why should my fruits and vegetables have anything else? I don't always eat vegetables raw, but I will certainly run strawberries under the faucet and then eat them. I decided to do a test of iGOZEN against plain old tap water. I chose the potatoes I bought at the grocery store, which I will be putting in my crock pot along with pulled pork. I only used one potato in each bowl for the pictures so that you could clearly see the difference.

In one bowl, I just washed the potato with water, and in the other bowl, I sprayed the potato with my iGOZEN cleaner, from my 16 oz. spray bottle. When I saw what iGOZEN managed to remove, compared to the water, I actually said "EW". When I went to put the bowls back in the cupboard after, I noticed that I took extra care rinsing out the bowl with the debris that iGOZEN had removed, because it was VISIBLE, and it was gross. That was enough for me to be convinced that I must spray down all my fruits and vegetables with iGOZEN in the future. I felt like I needed to use soap to clean that bowl after, and to think, that was going in my body every time I used water in the past! I think that iGOZEN works wonderfully, and I love the simple design and ease of use. I also love that I can use iGOZEN around my dog, and that it is not harmful if ingested. Even if you don't think you have a problem with cleanliness of your fruits and vegetables, I urge you to give this a try, because I clearly did!

  1. Okay so I never would've thought that my simple rinsing with water wouldn't do the trick. Wow that is kind of disgusting when you think about all the toxins that are actually on our foods. Something to think about!!!

  3. Wow! That's amazing. I was impressed with the potato wash with water and with iGozen. I eat potatoes all the time. You have to leave the skin on because that is where 90% of the nutrients are.
