Nutraviva Turmeric Curcumin Supplement: Review

Nutraviva

I was recently given the chance to review a 30-day supply of Nutraviva's Turmeric Curcumin Supplement. A 30-day supply consists of 120 capsules that are 500mg a piece. This supplement is manufactured in the United States and is cGMP compliant, which means that Nutraviva follows good manufacturing practices. As with any supplement, Nutraviva's Turmeric Curcumin has not been evaluated by the FDA, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Nutraviva's Turmeric Curcumin supplement contains the following ingredients:

Curcumin C3 Complex Turmeric Standardized Extract (Curcuma longa root extract standardized to contain 95% Curcuminoids) 500mg, Total Curcuminoids 95% 475mg (Bisdemethoxycurcumin 2.5%-6.5%, Curcumin 70-80%), BioPerine Black Pepper Extract (Piper nigrum fruit standardized to contain 95% Piperine), Vegetable Capsule.

This supplement does NOT contain any stearates, silicone dioxide, fillers, preservatives, or binders. There are no artificial ingredients. Nutraviva's Turmeric Curcumin supplement is safe for most allergy-sufferers, as it does not contain soy, gluten, corn, peanuts, egg, wheat, or shellfish.

Nutraviva suggests that you take their Turmeric Curcumin supplement three times a day, with one capsule each time. It is preferable that you take this supplement with a meal. As always, check with your physician before starting any supplement, especially if you have other healthcare concerns or you are on any medications. This supplement is not intended for children under the age of 18, and should not be taken if you are pregnant, nursing, or are being treated for high blood pressure and/or heart disease.

What can this supplement potentially do for you, and how does it work?

We all know that Turmeric is a very popular spice, but it has many other implications as a dietary supplement. One of turmeric's main ingredients is Curcumin, the major curcuminoid that gives Turmeric its yellow color. There have been many studies conducted on the uses of Turmeric/Curcumin -- and there seem to be many!

The most well-studied effect of turmeric is its ability to act as an anti-inflammatory agent, to reduce joint pain and conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. One study, quoted by WebMD, states that turmeric was likened to ibuprofen in its ability to reduce pain. Turmeric may also have implications in calming upset stomachs and bouts of heartburn. If that isn't enough, research is still being conducted on the ability of turmeric to aid in liver and gallbladder issues, skin cancer (as an ointment), headaches, menstrual cramping, bruising, and ringworm.

One of the biggest problems is that Curcumin does not have a great bioavailability, which means it isn't easily transported to its site of action. Nutraviva has taken steps to avoid this issue by combing the Curcumin C3 complex with BioPerine Black Pepper Extract. This extract helps increase the bioavailability of the turmeric, and thus, makes this supplement potentially much more effective than other leading brands. Nutraviva states that this combination may have an impact on supporting liver, heart, and immune system function, as well as having antioxidant effects, on top of those of standard turmeric.

Right now, you can purchase Nutraviva's Turmeric Curcumin Supplement for just $23.99 on Amazon, here. If you have Amazon Prime, there is free shipping! I really was interested in trying Nutraviva's Turmeric Curcumin Supplement, because I had never heard of turmeric used in any other context than to make curry or other spicy foods. I was also interested in what the supplement might be able to do for me. Lately, I have had the worst leg cramps and foot pain, because I tried to push myself too hard too fast when I started working out after a long period of virtually nothing. Seeing that it might be good for aches and pains, as a possible anti-inflammatory agent, I decided to give it a try. I can always use the extra added benefits of immune support (especially since I will be heading back to school soon and I tend to catch every disease out there), and cardiovascular health enhancement. I love the fact that this supplement is 100% natural and has enhanced absorption. I feel comfortable taking it, even with my leg cramp medicine. I can only take that medicine once every 5 hours, so it is nice to have something that I can take in between to take the edge off.

I'm sure that Nutraviva's Turmeric Curcumin Supplement has a different effect for different people, but I saw a slight reduction in the pain shooting down my legs. I believe I have a combination of muscular pain and a pinched nerve, so its possible that this may help lessen (though not entirely remove) the agitation of sciatica for some individuals. It is easy to integrate with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I haven't been taking it for that long, but the periods in between my leg cramp medicine (when it would usually start to wear off) are easier to deal with. I can't give any physical evidence of immune support or cardiovascular health enhancement, but I will continue to take this supplement with the hopes that it will reduce how often I get sick and will keep me functioning in top shape when school starts again! My only negative would be the size of the pill, because for me, it is on the larger side. However, I have always had trouble swallowing pills, so take that comment with a grain of salt.

  1. I do read a lot about turmeric is its ability to act as an anti-inflammatory agent. My own family has recommended trying it. It would be worth a shot to help with arthritis.
