BestZest Premium #Zester & #Grater: Review and Giveaway!

I received the BestZest Premium Zester and Grater for free, in exchange for providing you with my opinions. If you are anything like me, you may not actually know exactly what a zester is, even if your parents have used one in the kitchen before. When I saw the opportunity to apply for this product, I jumped at it, because I have been trying to slowly improve my cooking skills, both as a hobby and as a way to alter my diet.

In case you don't know, a zester is a fancy little kitchen tool that removes the "zest" from citrus fruits like lemons and limes. The zest is the shiny, outer portion of the fruit that is colored. It does NOT include the white portion of the peel of the fruit, which is referred to as the "pith". The pith is the bitter portion of the fruit that you do not want to eat -- the zest actually has a very intense flavor which is great for all kinds of unique recipes in both cooking and baking.

The BestZest Premium Zester and Grater is great, because it has two functions in one product. The grating portion of this tool can be used on things such as chocolate (to make chocolate shavings for a fancy dessert), nutmeg, and even hard-to-grind foods like garlic and ginger. When zesting, it avoids hitting the pith, so that you don't have to worry about bitterness sneaking into your next dish. It has a tough, durable, 8" 18/8 stainless steel blade which is made to handle any type of food. At the same time, the BestZest Premium Zester and Grater offers a very comfortable handle that makes it easy to maintain your grip without slipping. You will be able to repetitively grate and/or zest without your hand becoming numb or tired. Unlike some zesters, the BestZest Premium Zester and Grater is not flimsy, and will not become dull quickly after only a few times of use.

The BestZest Premium Zester and Grater is made with only FDA-approved materials that are safe for food contact. It even comes with a safety protection cover (as pictured) that helps prevent injury. Since the blade is very sharp and effective, you can simply slip the cover over the zester/grater when you put it in your drawer, so that you won't have to worry about cutting yourself when you pull it out. It is dishwasher-safe and easy to clean.

I thought that the BestZest Premium Zester and Grater worked really well, especially for its affordable price. The blade is definitely durable and not flimsy or dull, as promised. So far, I have used it to zest lemons and limes for some desserts, and I plan on using it a lot in the future as I expand my cooking skills. I loved using the grater portion of this tool to grate chocolate shavings for some mixed drinks on a nice, "date night in". I have also used it to grate cheese for pasta and other dishes that we have had for dinner in the past few weeks. I love the comfortable handle, and I think that the safety protection cover is an awesome feature -- I can't tell you how many times I have poked myself on knives and other kitchen appliances when I go in a drawer without thinking. At least I don't have to worry about this being the culprit! I would definitely recommend this zester and grater to anyone who cooks or bakes -- it makes a great gift, especially alongside other items in a gift basket!

  11. This looks great! I've got a sad little zester that is such a pain to use, and this looks so much easier. I like adding fresh citrus zest to many recipes, like my orange sweet rollls, so it would get a lot of use.
