I was given the chance to review Beauty by Earth's All-Natural and Organic Mineral Sunscreen (SPF 25), in exchange for sharing my opinions with you. It may not be the ideal season to use sunscreen, but we had a few random, beautiful days stuck in the middle of fall here in Maine, so I was able to test out the sunscreen to the best of my ability. Sunscreen is something I feel like you can never have too much of; I used to use mostly dark tanning lotions, but the more I learn about skin cancer and the like, the more I tend towards protective measures for my skin. I was happy to try a sunscreen which was NOT from the grocery store and did NOT have a thousand things in the ingredient list that I could not name.
Beauty by Earth's Mineral Sunscreen comes in a 4 fl. oz container, which is a pretty generous size. As aforementioned, it has a mineral and plant-based formula, which makes it have an immediate effect, unlike other sunscreens that take up to 45 minutes to start working. This sunscreen has a water-resistant formula, which I think is an essential for anyone who spends a lot of time at the beach. I don't like to have to reapply my sunscreen after going in and out of the water, especially if I do it frequently! It is also reef and eco-friendly, so it is safe for use around marine life. Without any unnatural ingredients, it is great for use on all skin-types, even those that have very sensitive skin. Its formula is easy to apply, and is very smooth - it is supposed to be residue free. The scent is not overpowering but mild, for those who are irritated by perfumey type sunscreens. With an SPF of 25, Beauty by Earth suggests that you apply their sunscreen every 45-60 minutes; this is still better than reapplying every time you get in and out of the water. It helps to protect your skin against harmful UV rays and skin cancer, but also moisturizes at the same time.

Overall, I was very pleased with Beauty by Earth's Mineral Sunscreen; although I did not get to use it on the hottest day with the most direct sunlight, I could still generally assess most of its features. One of my favorite things about this sunscreen was its lack of "sunscreen" smell. I'm sure many of you know what I mean when I say that most typical grocery store brands have a very distinct and slightly irritating smell which is not pleasant. This sunscreen has a very natural and light scent, almost like something tropical. It does have a very thick consistency which some people may not prefer, but I actually do -- I prefer to know that it is actually blocking the sun. I would take a thick consistency over greasy any day. My suggestion is to apply less so that your skin will fully absorb the sunscreen -- this way you won't look much whiter and chalkier after you put it on. The only time that I found it left residue was in places I wasn't fully able to reach and just sort of slapped it on. I felt like it really covered every area of my skin accurately, and it did NOT irritate my very sensitive skin. Instead of feeling like the sunscreen was blocking all of my pores and creating an oily and acne-prone appearance, I actually felt like it was moisturizing my skin and improving the texture. My skin felt much softer after using it. Of course, my favorite feature was the lack of unnatural additives! I feel like I am helping both my skin and the environment by making the switch to this sunscreen.
