Dial Miracle Oil Body Wash: Review and Giveaway!

Miracle Oil Marula Oil Infused Body Wash

As part of the Purex Insiders promotion group, I received a free bottle of Dial Miracle Oil: Marula Oil Body Wash for the purpose of this review.

If you're anything like me, and you live in a cold state that had a harsh winter (ahem..Maine), you know just how important it is to have products on hand that can moisturize your dry and cracking skin. I hate that the winter makes my skin rough and even makes it harder for me to apply makeup. Along with this, I also have sensitive skin, so the combination is brutal. I love to use a variety of products to help me lock in and retain moisture. Lately, I have been all about the oils (and it seems like everyone else is, too). One that I had never heard of is Marula Oil..

Marula Oil comes from the nuts of the Marula tree, which is native to South Africa. It has been used by centuries by the native women for cleaning, washing, and massaging. They also use Marula oil as a staple part of their diet and to help preserve meat (although I wouldn't recommend you doing that with the Dial Miracle Oil Body Wash ;) ). Marula Oil is made of a great combination of monounsaturated fats and antioxidants which give it its moisturizing qualities.

The Dial Miracle Oil: Marula Oil Body Wash has a light, slightly nutty and slightly floral scent; it is definitely a scent that I haven't smelled before, which makes my shower seem even more like an exotic getaway! It lathers up nicely and after using it for more than a week, I have seen an improvement at least on some of the areas of my body that were plagued with dry and cracking skin. It makes your skin feel very soft, while also doing a good job of cleaning, so you won't feel as though you need any additional soap -- its like a lotion and soap all in one!

The Dial Miracle Oil Body Wash is available at most major retailers throughout the country. Dial also carries a Miracle Oil hand soap made from the same formula, as well as a variety of other Miracle Oil products -- if you love Coconut Oil you should check them out.

Soniclear Antimicrobial Sonic Cleansing System by Michael Todd

Michael Todd is a company based out of Port Saint Lucie, Florida that specializes in manufacturing natural and organic skin care products. After founder Lewis Hendler came to the realization that many products marketed for skin care consist of water and chemicals (but are labeled otherwise), he decided to create a line of unique products that would be both nutritional and beneficial for the skin; their first ingredient would not be water. Ingredients used in Michael Todd products come from certified organic fruits and plants, and everything is produced in a USDA certified organic facility. All of Michael Todd's skin care line is paraben and sulfate free, and consists of no artificial coloring, mineral oil, phthalates or triclosan, or synthetic dyes. Their products are cruelty-free and start with a base of 100% Certified Organic Aloe Vera Juice, which is known for its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits. Michael Tod fully stands behind their mission to "Make the world a prettier place, one face at a time."

What kind of skin care products does Michael Todd carry?..Almost anything you would need for any type of skin care concern! They offer such products as:
  • Bar Soaps
  • Cleansers
  • Eye and lip care
  • Face Misters/Pillow Sprays
  • Masks and Peels
  • Skin Lightener
  • Scrubs and polishes
  • Moisturizers
  • Sun protection
  • Serums
  • Toners
  • Beauty care tools
  • Facial Towelettes

Michael Todd covers every type of skin tone, whether you have acne or blemish concerns, or have dry or sensitive skin. They have products for anti-aging and wedding regimens, as well as products for brown spots or oily skin. On top of offering high-quality, natural ingredients, all of Michael Todd's products have unique scents. You can choose from scents such as carrot, coconut, cranberry, grapefruit, lemon, tropical fruits, and pumpkin, as well as your more standard scents.

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to review one of Michael Todd's renowned products -- The Soniclear Antimicrobial Sonic Cleansing System -- in exchange for sharing my opinions with you. The Soniclear is a sonic skin cleansing brush that is the first of its kind, including antimicrobial properties. The traditional skin cleaning systems on the market do not offer this feature, thus the combination of skin cells, makeup, and moisture that cling to the bristles of their brushes causes the potential for an infestation of bacteria. Soniclear's unique antimicrobial feature is referred to as "LIFE", and it works by stopping the bacteria from replicating; it is implemented into the bristles of the Soniclear and will not wash out. The Soniclear system can be used for the deep cleaning of your entire body and face, no matter what type of skin you have.

Soniclear gets its name from the fact that it incorporates a sonic-wave massage into its technology, with over 300 sonic vibrations per second. This allows the user to remove dirt and makeup (whatever might be clogging your pores) while also exfoliating the skin. These high sonic speeds are much more powerful than competing skin cleansing systems, which makes for a more effective cleanse as well as less skin irritation. Cleaning your face and body with Soniclear is six times more helpful when it comes to removing makeup and two times more helpful when it comes to cleansing with your hands alone. The Soniclear Cleansing System comes in six different colors/patterns: plum pretty, leopard luxe, lavender lust, pink lady, tangerine dream, or boho babe.

 Why use the Soniclear system?

It is great for producing healthier and more vibrant skin, from the inside out. It helps to cleanse skin that may be subjected to a heavy makeup regimen, and to reduce the size of pores. The Soniclear system works to make your skin appear brighter, more even, and to have a smoother overall texture. The Soniclear works great for skin that has blemishes or spots that need correcting. I think that it works great on combination skin (speaking from experience), but that it would be just as good on oily or dry skin. Soniclear can also help you fight the signs of aging by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles! There isn't a reason NOT to use it.
The Soniclear Cleansing System has many great features which make it extremely easy to use. It is cordless (you only need to plug it in when it needs to recharge) and waterproof, so you can just take it into the shower and use it as part of your daily cleansing routine. The gripped edges along the bottom of the handle make it easy to hold onto when it gets wet. It is really convenient to have a skin product that you can just use in the shower -- often women don't like adding several steps to their routine with skin care products, especially if it means applying and washing off throughout the day.

The Soniclear comes with the main handle and charging cradle, as well as interchangeable brush heads, a smaller one for your face and a larger one for your body. When you change the brushes, Soniclear automatically adjusts its cleansing speed. It comes with a timer that beeps when an area has been fully cleansed and it is time to move onto the next area. Between charges, Soniclear lasts for approximately 35 minutes. The lights on the Soniclear tell you which of the six speed settings you are on. Each of the speeds has a different "guideline". For example, the fourth speed is made for delicate/sensitive skin, an should be used once a day or every other day.

Once you turn the Soniclear on, all you have to do is wet your skin and the brush head with warm water, and then apply a cleanser to the brush head or to your skin. Then you just put the brush head up to your skin and move it in soft, circular motions. It's as easy as that!

The Soniclear Cleansing System has been featured in magazines such as: Elle, Star, Bustle, Flash, Fashion Snoops, InStyle, People, etc. It even has celebrities like Paula Deen, Martha Stewart, Selenis Leyva, Lady Gaga, Oprah, Viola Davis and more buzzing! It was also featured on the popular television shows The Doctors and Rachel Ray.

Right now, you can purchase the Soniclear Antimicrobial Cleansing System for $149 on the Michael Todd website, here. If you are looking for some excellent cleansers to pair with the Soniclear, Michael Todd has several of them. You can use just about anything, ranging from their body washes, to deep pore facial gel, to their facial scrubs, depending on what your skin concerns are and what your favorite scent is.

What did I think about the Soniclear cleansing system?

It's great! I always wanted to purchase a cleansing system like this when I saw them in the beauty supply stores, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to invest that much money. I have some issues with very sensitive combination skin that tends to be oily in the summer and dry in the winter. Some weeks I go without seeing any acne due to other products that I have picked up, but lately (maybe its the stress), I have been getting several patches of acne on my chin and cheeks, especially over my blush line (which is very annoying when you like wearing brush or bronzer and don't want to enhance your flaws!). I can now tell you that while it may seem expensive, it is definitely worth the price. Your skin really responds to having a deep cleaning, as opposed to the normal scrubbing that we do by hand in the shower or the sink.

It actually feels, for once, like I have gotten down through the layers of my makeup and whatever bacteria and dirt were on my face, to clean it from the inside out. It feels very refreshing and rejuvenating the first time you use the Soniclear system. My face and body felt so much softer and really looked more vibrant after just a few times using it. I try to use the Soniclear as often as I shower -- I have the charging cradle set up in the bathroom, so I can just grab the Soniclear from the cradle and take it right in with me. I use a mixture of different products depending on what my skin is doing that particular day. I have used the Soniclear with body wash, face polish, etc, all with good results. It is such a simple tool to use to make such a difference.

At first, I thought maybe the sonic movements would be too harsh and irritate my sensitive skin, but the different speed options really help. I can use a higher speed on my body, and a lower speed on my face, which is more delicate. If you are looking for a jump-start to healthy and vibrant skin for the upcoming summer season, I would highly recommend purchasing a Soniclear. It has helped soften my acne and really remove professional makeup, like no makeup wipes can seem to do.

Paula Dorf Cosmetics Aztec City #Eyeshadow Palette

Paula Dorf Cosmetics is a company based out of New York, New York, that specializes in creating professional-grade cosmetic brushes and beauty products. They hope to empower women and help them to "become their own makeup artist". Paula Dorf is well-known for its wide array of unique products, such as the Clean-up Stick that erases makeup mistakes and the Perfect Illusion that helps tackle lip feathering. Whether you like to paint your nails, show off your lips, or enhance your eyes, you will find the perfect product at Paula Dorf.

Paula Dorf Cosmetics has been featured on several celebrities, in issues of the magazines Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Allure, and In Style. They have also won several awards for their beauty products, such as the Fashion Group International "Rising Star Entrepreneur of the Year" and many "Allure: Best of Beauty" awards.

Today, we are taking a look at the Paula Dorf Aztec City Eyeshadow Palette, which I received for free in exchange for my honest opinions. This eyeshadow palette contains five shades and one applicator in a .30 oz container.  It retails for $36 on the Paula Dorf website, and you can find it, here

The Aztec City Palette contains a mixture of mattes and shimmer, and has a nice blend of basic colors, including white, teal, mauve, tan, and dark brown. The brush that is included is double-ended, with a wider side for heavy application and a more narrow side for filling in your crease or perfecting/feathering your edges. Paula Dorf describes the Aztec City Palette as follows:

"From the desert sand to the crisp blue sky this Aztec City Palette has it all! With just the right balance of professional and flirty, this palette lets you decide between knockout nudes, classy colors or a mesmerizing mix of both. These five shades allow you to customize your look and transform your mindset to the bronzed beauty of the desert. The sleek mirrored case also contains a specially designed double-ended brush for the perfect application. For a more dramatic effect, use with Paula Dorf Transformer."

The Aztec City Eyeshadow Palette contains the following ingredients:

Mica; Dimethicone, Talc; Dimethicone, Dimethicone, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Magnesium Stearate, Solum Diatomeae, Capryl Glycol & Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Piroctone Olamine

Below, I have a picture of the swatches of the each shade, going from the white to the dark brown. As you can see, some of the shades are more pigmented than others. I have also included a photo of my mom (who was kind enough to be my model today) wearing a blend of the white, the tan, and the dark brown for an alteration on a smokey look that is appropriate for day or night. We used the Paula Dorf brush included with the palette to blend the three colors together, starting with the lightest on the inside and the darkest color in the crease.

Overall, we found that the eyeshadow goes on easily, but that it is not heavily pigmented. The most pigmented colors are the teal and the dark brown. It took several layers of white to achieve the look that we have below. It is easy to blend with the brush, and the colors are definitely complementary, so visually the palette makes sense. The teal is my favorite shade, although the "pop" is still subtle. This palette would be ideal for someone who likes to keep things subtle, and who desires to have some neutral shades, but also wants to have one or two shades to play around with for a night out on the town. It is definitely professionally-geared, and appropriate for all ages, skin colors, and eye colors. The size makes it handy for something to slip into your purse for touch-ups throughout the day, and the mirror is a nice addition. The shimmer is not overwhelming at all, and there are no large flakes of glitter or fall out as you are applying the shades. It has pretty good staying power, but works better with an eye primer as a base. I personally prefer more pigmented shades with less layers necessary; although I like the colors this is a little too subtle for me.

  • Mixture of nudes with a pop of teal and mauve
  • Mattes with a hint of shimmer
  • Easy application
  • Includes a high-quality brush and mirror
  • Blendable and complementary
  • Not super pigmented
  • Forms layers, but takes a lot to build appreciable pigment
  • Very subtle and professional
Special coupon offer for readers: Use code TEAL to receive a free Paula Dorf Teal Mascara with any purchase!
